This groundbreaking game is the result of a collaboration between World Champion Magnus Carlsen and his team of chess experts at Play Magnus, and DragonBox; a pedagogy studio globally acclaimed for its unique math learning games.

No advertisements. No in-app purchases. Just peace of mind for parents that their kids are playing with a premium, world-class learning app.

Pedagogical steps:

- Learning how different pieces move and capture.
- Learning the notion of checkmate and simple checkmating patterns.
- Learning to complete simple tactical and strategic tasks.
- Intro to basic checkmating techniques against a lone king.
- Complete games versus a basic chess engine.

The main goal of "Magnus' Kingdom of Chess" is to introduce children to chess rules and strategies so they learn enough to transition to a real board.

Through a smooth progression, kids will be introduced to each chess pieces over six different worlds where players will meet Magnus Carlsen himself as well as a mysterious Prince. Step by step they will solve chess situations with more and more pieces, and apply more and more chess rules.

Once they complete the game they receive a diploma and they'll be ready to play against other children, family or at school, as well as playing with other apps from Play Magnus such as the Magnus trainer or Play Magnus.

Questions & Answers

Q: What is an APK File?

A: Just like Windows (PC) systems use an .exe file for installing software, Android does the same. An APK file is the file format used for installing software on the Android operating system.

Q: If I install an APK from this website, will I be able to update the app from the Play Store?

A: Yes, absolutely. The Play Store installs APKs it downloads from Google's servers, and sideloading from a site like ApkClean.net goes through a very similar process, except you're the one performing the downloading and initiating the installation (sideloading).
As soon as the Play Store finds a version of the app newer than the one you've sideloaded, it will commence an update.

Q: Why ApkClean.net can guarantee APK 100% safe?

A: Whenever someone wants to download an APK file from ApkClean.net, we'll check the corresponding APK file on Google Play and allow user download it directly (of course, we'll cache it on our server). If the APK file does not exist on Google Play, we'll search it in our cache.

Q: What are Android App permissions?

A: Apps require access to certain systems within your device. When you install an application, you are notified of all of the permissions required to run that application.

3 ★A good game for our son, but he keeps asking for help on the stage whereyou're supposed to get your first runner. Prior to getting the runner youneed to pass three peasants. Due to the way they are placed, it isimpossible to get by them. Only solution is to reset the game and have himplay all over again until he gets to this point again. Also, on the priorstage, you can only kill one of the horses. The right one, never moves. Andyou cannot enter the cave in the middle since you don't have a horse...
3 ★This was an amazing game right up to the point where my 5 year old comes tome frantically trying to get out of the ocean. No amount of swiping couldhelp him escape an all blue screen. The only way to get out is to reset allhis progress. Fix the bugs and it will be truly great.
5 ★Another winner! Bought it as soon as I learned it was out. I've alwayswanted to learn to play chess beyond the basics, and I'm already learningstrategy after playing just a bit. Yes, I've only done it a bit, becausethen my children took over my phone. My 8 year old daughter has alreadycompleted it! Others are working through it too. If it says DragonBox, justbuy it. That's what I do. Though I wish they would give a discount for usultra dedicated followers, especially since we spread the word. AND,because I usually buy both android and apple versions so I can have achance to play too. Gets pricey, but DragonBox is worth it.
5 ★If I would not seen apps like this, "gamification" as often mentioned by the teachers in our country (uh, we need more skilled educators and better knowledge and experience transfer in our schooling system...) would be just some term somebody "invented" as a hype. Thanks to creators of this game (they also created other fantastic games), one can actually see how to implement "gamification" to achieve astonishing results. By knowing how children learning process works and how to motivate, engage and direct children to achieve proper mental model which will help them to solve "grown-up" challenges. I have been following WeWantToKnow from their beginning and they are definitely moving into the right direction, building on the insights that the pragmatic turn research in human cognition is providing. Keep up the astonishing work! And Magnus, thanks for sharing your mindset here!
5 ★Loved it! It was a super fun way of not just learning what the pieces cando, but learning to think that way too. I really hope you make more puzzlesfor this, it was so fun, and i wanted more puzzles/battles. Ps! My kidslove it too...
4 ★My 4yo enjoyed it a lot and was grasping concepts like 'safe square' and to attack pawns from behind/go for the base of the pawn chain by level 2. She needed a little help to play. The 'catch an animal' (find a checkmate) 'battles' put her off, so she didn't progress past level 2, choosing instead to start from the beginning repeatedly. It is less intuitive than other Dragonbox apps and progress is a bit fast. The concept of check/checkmate could do with more 'learning'. Sad: checkmated king/animal is captured... needs to be un-learned for 'real' chess! Also, pieces will move (in general direction) if tapping randomly which gives false impression of no need for precision. My 8yo plays chess already so was interested to see what he'd make of it. Despite 'knowing' everything the game aims to teach, he was lured in and greatly enjoyed playing. I'd wager that he has been improving his feeling for how the pieces work together. However beyond that it won't improve his chess and he will likely complete the app within a few days. Overall a dream combination to bring Dragonbox to chess; but being aimed at pure beginners some concepts could do with being introduced more explicitly.
5 ★Allowed my 8yo kid to learn to play chess in 2 weeks. Best app for kidschess
5 ★The kids love it, and they're learning while playing.
5 ★Better than Baldurs II! Well almost. Great fun.
5 ★Simply amazing
