Република Српска сваке године у саобраћајним незгодама, поред губитка оног највриједнијег а то су људски животи, трпи и огромне трошкове у економском смислу. Стручњаци су израчунали да укупни друштвено економски трошкови саобраћајних незгода у Републици Српској око 170 милиона КМ.Због свега тога, носиоци власти у Републици Српској су одлучно кренули у јачање институционалних капацитета безбједности саобраћаја. Народна скупштина је усвојила Стратегију за безбједност саобраћаја Републике Српске 2013-2022, чиме су створене претпоставке за унапређење безбједности саобраћаја у Републици Српској. На трагу тога сваке године се одржава и Међународна конференција „Безбједност саобраћаја у локалној заједници“, с циљем константног јачања и анимирања капацитета на локалном нивоу и стварања група стручњака који ће имати довољно ентузијазма, храбрости и воље да се боре сa овим проблемом друштва у цјелини.
