2 ★Great service, lackluster app. You're better off just using the website directly (via Chrome on your phone *or* desktop). What you get is excessively annoying notifications that you can't control (no granularity, and "double notifications" if you install the app *and* connect Preply to Google/Calendar) and mostly nothing else. Maybe it offers video sessions with tutors? Unsure because I opted to use a browser.
3 ★App is challenging. Not in a good way. Has a mind of its own. Can't set up devices unless you are already in a lesson. Just had to drop a lesson because instructor could hear me but I couldn't hear anything. Other apps have no problem with sound output. Wasted my money and both our time.
2 ★My teacher Antonio is Awesome!!! But this app is HORRIBLE. Glitching so much that you cannot add new words to your vocab list. False msg alerts when there are no alerts. The vocab on the app is very minimal and does not recognize some words. Definitions of words in the database make absolutely no sense. When you select a time slot for a fture day app scrolls to view availability for today when loading the day you selected, so you then have to scroll back to future day you wanted
5 ★I'm combining my solitary learning with conversation with a native speaker. Finding the perfect match for me on Preply has increased my desire and courage to confidently use Russian daily. I'm still seeking locals in this pandemic to practice with, I cannot deny the fun and gentle way I've been guided into learning this m language and culture. There aren't any other language learning sources, I know of, that allow you to both: select a tutor based off of their skills and what you can afford.
4 ★Generally, it is a great way to find teachers. Lately, I'm having difficulties typing the messages. It just freezes up mid-sentence. So, I have to type the message somewhere else and then copy/paste it into the message section on preply. It's really annoying to do it this way. Please, fix it! Thank you!
2 ★Can you find good tutors on Preply? Yes, but also really bad ones, so you have to do lots of research, trial and error. The other part is the app its functionality. That mostly works but not always; we had recently a technical issue, both student and tutor did what they could but ended up missing 40 out of 60 minutes of the lesson. In such situations Preply won't help or make up for your loss. They just take their cut and go.
4 ★Old Review (2022) • Lots of connection issues lately. The screen all of a sudden turns black and cannot possibly continue the lesson with my tutor. Even though it says that we both have good internet connections, but there's something wrong with the Preply system. The app is easy to use and the functions are good 👍 NEW (2023) • with the new updates and improvements, I almost don't have any connection problems lately. Great job guys! Would be better to have an option to delete the messages.
4 ★Please add an option to filter tutors by language proficiency, like "also speaks English C1", so that learners can find a teacher who is fluent in the desired language. I don't like that the new look doesn't include highlighted message boxes anymore. I'd rather have that part of the UI changed back.
1 ★The biggest inconvenience of this app is that it does not send push notifications. You have to check endlessly if you want to see if your student or a potential has messaged you. You can't withdraw or check statistics either. This is among a plethora of other things that make it a horrible app. Now this new update has kept my calender in perpetual loading loop. They just splashed some pink on it to make you think it's great. It's a pretty rubbish app
3 ★App is great but really disappointed that after the updates, I still don't get notifications and will have to always open the app to check for new messages and notifications. It will be great to have this, it makes it easier. Also, from a Tutors perspective I can't edit my language levels for other languages which makes it so annoying because my language level has improved from the time I joint the platform to now. 5 ★Gustavo is an amazing teacher! He is kind, patient, funny and very knowledgeable of the Spanish language. My confidence in speaking Spanish has increased dramatically. I've looked forward to every lesson with him because each time I learn a lot! The things I've learned, I am able to use immediately. It has been one of the best decisions I've made this year! 5 ★This is about the platform and not necessarily about the app. I've experienced working with 10 different online teaching platforms. In terms of the management, working conditions, pay (you set your price), flexibility, the niceness of the students, exposure to more students from more countries, guarantee of a constant supply of students (especially when you're a good teacher), freedom for students and teachers etc., Preply is just the best of them all.
