Okulumuzun geçmişi 1969 yılında bugünkü gar civarında yer alan tarihi Bağdat Otelinde faaliyet gösteren Hastaş Eğitim Kurumlarına dayanmaktadır.
14 yıl boyunca bu binada Türk Milli Eğitimine hizmet eden Özel Gündoğdu Eğitim Kurumları 1982 yılında Meram Yeni Yol Caddesi üzerinde bulunan bugünkü adresine taşınmıştır.
48. yıllık köklü geçmişinde ilköğretim ve lise bölümlerinden binlerce mezun veren Özel Gündoğdu İlk ve Ortaokulu; Konya’nın ilk, Türkiye’nin ise sekizinci özel okulu olma unvanını taşımaktadır.
Özel Gündoğdu İlk ve Orta Okulu her an gelişen eğitim dünyasındaki değişikleri yakından takip ederek öğrencilerine ideal eğitim koşulları sağlamayı, Atatürk ilke ve inkılâplarına bağlı, milli ve manevi değerlerine sahip çıkan, özgüven sahibi bireyler yetiştirmeyi ilke edinmiştir.

Yabancı dil eğitiminde her zaman iddialı olan okulumuz Avrupa Birliği projeleri kapsamında her yıl onlarca öğrencisini Avrupa’ya götürmekte ve bu kapsamda yabancı öğretmenler de dahil olmak üzere misafirlerini ağırlamaktadır.
