1 ★This is just Torque re-badged with less options and a $100 proprietary adapter with sketchy connectivity. The site promises a buffet of info and tweeks for your car that in some cases are not even supported by Carly. And if they are supported, you can do nothing with them or even get their details until you spend ANOTHER $70 on top of the $100 you just spent for the adapter. Remember that free program you got that promised to optimize your computer? and after you ran it and it said 'we found x amount of things that we can fix' but didnt tell you what they were until you paid full price for the program? That's what Carly is, even AFTER paying $100 for the initial product. The Carly app even says that some of it's abilities are not available for your car when you tap them. and links you to 3rd party products on Amazon. Seems to me this database of can/can't per car model should be on their website BEFORE you purchase the device. I mean.. it's in the APP.. but you dont know till you tap a function. And this is without even MENTIONING that I have 3 android devices and the adapter only shows up/connects on one of them. And on the one (Samsung Note8) every time you switch menus in the Carly App, you have to reconnect to the Carly Adapter.. That's what I get for the $100 adapter? I am still debating whether or not to pay the REQUIRED additional $70 (per year) for the 'unlocked' account just to see IF the other functions and promised capabilities are available for my car. But right now? 1 star, because 0 is not a selection. Edit. And per the manufacturer response below, No on all 3 counts. apparently they would rather say dumb customer than poor business model.
5 ★Just received my Carly Bluetooth adapter today - and used it to check my car codes. I'm really impressed - it was simple to connect to my Pixel 3 and the application is easy to understand and navigate. I ran all the checks and cleared the 8 codes it found. I also change some coding. I turned off the iDrive disclaimer message that annoyed the hell out of me. I also ran the used car check and the reset for the automatic transmission. Everything went well, no problems. So 5 stars for Carly!!!
5 ★I used this for quite a while and it worked fantastic. Recently I had an issue and the blue tooth wouldn't connect any longer. I contacted customer support and they responded the next day. After a few questions it was determined the adapter was the issue. I expected they were going to tell me i needed to purchase a new one but ,to my surprise they sent out a replacement free of charge. Excellent customer service.
1 ★Not really that great. It works when it's working. I notice all the no connection problems started with the app update. No problem with the old one. When I use the new update it didn't work. Tech support is pretty good they sent me a new obd adapter and that fixed it. Now I am going to use a third time and no connection again. Tried the usual fix uninstall and reinstall the app but now it won't reinstall!?!? I tried all day and it just keep saying downloading on the app store!??!
1 ★This is a subscription service, which is not clear in the order process. (Of note, I checked the process; it's in fine, grey print at the bottom of the final confirmation page). I attempted to cancel and refund the following day, and was told by support this isn't possible; this is for $112 USD, the day after buying the (*subscribing for a year*) app, without having used it. Bait+switch. CC dispute filed.
5 ★I've been a Carly BMW user for a few years now and have been very satisfied with the app's functions. Connectivity used to be very slow until this last update. Now the connection with the bluetooth dongle is a bit faster. I'm not a fan of the new UI but maybe that just because I was so used to the older one. All in all worth the purchase. They also have a Carly Toyota/Lexus now so I've been playing around with that since I have a couple Toyota's and a Lexus.
1 ★Very disappointed. The main reason I bought this was for the used car scan. The website listed my Car, but it doesn't work on it. Contacted support and they confirmed that the scanner is not compatible with my car. I have several other cars and trucks. It did work ok on my truck until the most recent update, now It doesn't work on that either. I paid for all vehicles option ... What a waste of money. Back to my old wired scan tool.
4 ★Crazy issues show up when I always scan my car. I get at least 40 errors and have checked them and nothing wrong with that code example 030181 window passenger side rear, relay closure, no output voltage etc.... Nothing wrong, not sure if something else is wrong that is causing the errors to show up during a scan, 2014 bmw 320i. Bluetooth connection is great, never have problem with connection, coding is awesome! I have programmed everything on my car that has worked every time I code.
3 ★Anybody else having a hard time opening the app? All I get is the opening splash screen, then it switches to landscape and gives a "welcome" screen with black background. I can't get past that screen. There are no links, nothing to click on, no way to move forward. I've cleared the caches recommended and redownloaded numerous times. I downloaded on my laptop, then pushed it to my phone, I've tried everything I could find and still no joy. Am I the only one? So far, this is a 1 star situation for me. Update: App was accessible by reducing the font on the phone? Anyway, once I was in it does exactly what it says it will. For me so far, not sure it's worth $120.but, I'm still playing with it. Will be interesting when I see my mechanic and we compare to his $10k/yr official program diagnostics. They fixed my issue, only fair to update...
3 ★Works pretty well, but the interface is horrible and the sequence of menus doesn't make sense. Pricing is annual, which is insane given that you have to buy the adapter. On the main menu, it suggests the likelihood of a fault code, but you can tell that it isn't informed by anything real. It's probably just the time since you last scanned the car.
3 ★Advertised Features not available on 2015 X1 model. Finally got the activation issues sorted out so 1 star turned into 3 stars. They were slow but it finally got done. The reason for 3 stars is that a 2015 BMW X1 (E84) (N20) is advertised as supported for driver adaptation reset in the Transmission menu. In fact the app confirms my engine is supported for this feature when I press the transmission icon. Problem is when I try to use any of the reset functions I get a message it is not supported.
2 ★I have a lifetime subscription and have had generally a decent experience across many cars. I have had to upgrade from gen 1 to gen 2 to Universal for the app to keep working. They've expanded beyond BMW and I think that distracted them. I can't code my start stop even though they said I could on their web site. Tech support replied stating not to update the DME software unless I need to??? Their was a recall so it wasn't really an option. Hoping they get their focus back.
