Der Benutzer richtet die Kamera auf das Blatt Papier und kann mittels Touch-Gesten den zu erkennenden Bereich des Kamera-Bildes eingrenzen. Sollte das Kamera-Bild unscharf sein, kann es mit einem Fingertipp auf den Touchscreen mithilfe des Autofocus der Kamera scharf gestellt werden. Ebenso kann der Benutzer bei schlechten Lichtverhältnissen wahlweise das Fotolicht über die App einschalten. Wurde der mathematische Ausdruck erkannt, ertönt ein Ton und es wird das berechnete Ergebnis angezeigt.

Es wird Druckschrift und saubere Handschrift bei guten Lichtverhältnisse erkannt. Die Kamera muss Parallel zum Blatt ausgerichtet sein, damit keine perspektivischen Verzerrungen auftreten.
