Muatan kearifan lokal dari Kurikulum 2013 diharapkan mampu mengembangkan apresiasi terhadap kekhasan multikultural dengan mengenalkan permainan dan olahraga tradisional yang berakar dari budaya suku bangsa Indonesia.
Mata Pelajaran PJOK untuk Kelas VIII SMP/MTs yang disajikan dalam buku ini juga tunduk pada ketentuan tersebut.
