1 ★On the advertisement you can go over every word and swipe up when you want a definition. In the actual app you have a finite amount of words you are able to swipe up to find the definition. So, for example, in a sentence they may have the verbs available for translation but not the nouns, etcetera. So I have to open Google translate to find the meaning of the words they don't translate. Thus, making the ease of reading arduous, which was the main appeal in downloading this app....for me.
2 ★The literary readings are worthless. They're just literal vocab strings, not actual literary translation. Verb tenses are not identified, only infinitives. It's truly useless for actual language learning. Call it was what it is. . . sheer vocabulary building, but not language learning. I would be ashamed to charge for this as it is currently positioned.
1 ★Unless you are an absolute beginner, this app is a waste of time and money. I downloaded this after learning Spanish for over two years, interacting with Latinos on a daily basis for work. EWA did the typical quiz to test how much I knew. Despite me getting over 90% of the translations correct, they put me at beginner where my first lesson had me translate "hola" ten times. So I decided instead to check out their audiobooks, but the audio doesn't work. I want my money back.
2 ★Don't like it too much. I don't like the adult content. Wish it was just family friendly in general. Plus I'm doing the free trial and I don't yet see any benefits of having the 'plus' version, mainly due to there being no explanation of it anywhere. Otherwise I'm sure it can be helpful but, might look elsewhere to find something other than adult cartoons and movies shown to me. I tried to switch from that being my first learning style (movies) but there's no option to...
5 ★This, is amazing, the other apps take away your privileges to do normal stuff and force u to get premium to use it, this one is perfect, and the premium is what it's meant to be, an advantage. I also love how it gives you the option to fill in your email, so you don't have to get a bunch of emails. Plus you dont have to do such boring things like the other Spanish apps, you can choose from many choices of how you want to learn.
1 ★I downed loaded EWA as an app. EWA has 2 levels. The first level has some inappropriate content and the 2nd level is filled with inappropriate content. Raunchy sex jokes and cartoon characters interacting in an X rated manner. I took the app off my phone, but later learned that didn't do it. Today I cancelled my subscription, but unfortunitely my subscription is still running until the end of the year. All cancelling did was stop the subscription from renewing next year. I'd like to have the subcription completely stopped.
5 ★I gave you 5 stars because the concept is amazing and you have some features I have never seen before in other app. But, and this is a big but, you lost me when I realized that you used AI as the book's narrator. There are great app with the similar concept but they are using people. That is a huge different for me. Other than that, great work.
4 ★Really creative, well-rounded app for mastering a language (in my case, Spanish). It uses videos, a very limited amount of free reading material, games, vocab quiz, & more traditional lesson tips to help you learn or reinforce. What I don't like: most reading material requires an account. And even after listing my level as advanced, the lessons are all beginner (or beginner+). Vocab in books shows not learned until you click every little word (en, es, que). So I can't judge how good the app is.
1 ★They charged me $26 for a yearly subscription (renewing from last year), yet I wasn't able to log into my account as I kept being prompted to make a new one. I contacted them through the app over a week ago detailing the situation and asking that they either refund me or restore the purchase into this account but I've received no answer... 😡
1 ★I paid for a year subscription and the app is not reflecting this at all. I have tried to uninstall and reinstall the app and every time I have to go through a sign up process and it does not save my progress. I also contacted support using the app but I have not heard from anyone. Also will be reporting the issue with Google. I would advise anyone to use another app.
3 ★Basically it links to a dictionary for you, but you still need a verb dictionary; with conjugations, pronunciation, and tenses; to get anything out of it. Not as advertised. Usefule though as a collection of books and audio-books; but you will still need what you would have needed, anyways, renting a book from the library.
3 ★Although I am an intermediate Spanish speaker ( on the basis of several tests) even the beginner stories are too difficult. I have had to spend way too much time looking up word definitions to make the experience enjoyable. Also, the translations given by the app are not accurate. I am disappointed.
