U maakt kennis met een selectie van veertig portretten. De geselecteerde schrijvers staan op alfabetische volgorde onder elkaar in het hoofdmenu. Elk portret is voorzien van een beknopte biografie van zowel schrijver als portretschilder en bevat extra informatie zoals handschriften, archieffoto’s en video’s, quotes en anekdotes.
De schrijversgalerij bevindt zich op de eerste verdieping van het Letterkundig Museum in Den Haag en toont de schrijvers in alfabetische volgorde. Volgens schrijver en beeldend kunstenaar Maria Barnas is het een van de meest wanordelijke verzamelingen schilderijen die ooit bij elkaar zijn gebracht. De volgorde van de werken gaat namelijk volledig voorbij aan chronologie en stromingen. Louis Couperus hangt naast Jan Cremer en Ernst Groenevelt naast Arnon Grunberg. Dit levert een verrassend geheel op én het maakt het eenvoudig uw favoriete schrijver te vinden.
