Secara umum peringatan maulid Nabi Shallallahu alaihi wa sallam selalu disemarakkan dengan shalawatan dan puji-pujian kepada Rasulullah Shallallahu alaihi wa sallam, yang mereka ambil dari kitab Barzanji maupun Daiba’, ada kalanya ditambah dengan senandung qasîdah Burdah. Biasanya kitab Barzanji menjadi kitab induk peringatan maulîd Nabi Shallallahu ‘alaihi wa sallam, bahkan sebagian pembacanya lebih tekun membaca kitab Barzanji daripada membaca al-Qur’an. Maka tidak aneh jika banyak di antara mereka yang lebih hafal kitab Barzanji bersama lagu-lagunya dibanding al-Quran.
