Il progetto MITO (Multimedia Information for Territorial Objects) si colloca tra le iniziative finanziate nell'ambito del Programma Operativo Nazionale Ricerca e Competitività (PON R&C) / Piano di Azione e Coesione del MIUR, con particolare riferimento alla linea d'intervento “Interventi di realizzazione strutturale, nelle aree della convergenza, di un sistema di long term preservation dei prodotti/risultati della ricerca”, attraverso l’utilizzo di soluzioni standard aperte (logica dell’open government e open access) in un quadro di cooperazione con altre istituzioni nazionali e in coerenza con le raccomandazioni di Horizon 2020.Grazie ai finanziamenti del Progetto MITO, ISPRA e 7 Università del Mezzogiorno, tra cui UniPA, hanno saputo realizzare la prima piattaforma per la gestione e scambio di oggetti geo-riferiti, a servizio e integrazione di attività di vari settori, che spaziano dalla valorizzazione del patrimonio culturale, alla tutela ambientale, alla pianificazione territoriale, con una particolare enfasi dedicata agli strumenti di acquisizione e trasmissione di dati e informazioni in mobilità.
L’App permette in modo semplificato, quindi anche a non tecnici, la gestione e visualizzazione di layer informativi e documentali per ambiti tematici di diversa natura presenti sul geodatabase con funzioni interattive tipiche dei sistemi GIS (attivazione/disattivazione layers, aggiunta/rimozione layers, identifica proprietà, zoom in/out), il geocoding, l’interrogazione dei dati geo-spaziali su mappa, la possibilità di cambiare le mappe di base, e la localizzazione su mappa della propria posizione.
Inoltre è possibile la compilazione di form basati su template, per gli ambiti applicativi specifici: Rischio idraulico e geomorfologico (allagamenti, frane, erosione), e Repertorio connesso alla tracciabilità dell’olio di oliva e conseguenti rischi per la salute.
