Consumers Energy presents a brand new, educational application to help children learn how to be safe around household electric and natural gas devices with interactive presentations and games.Teachers & Parents – This child friendly app supports the Common Core State Standards for your classroom and can be used as a tool to supplement teaching. The app provides an engaging experience in an interactive and fun environment for students in grades K-2 and 3-6. It can be used in collaboration with our online teacher’s guide, which explores and reinforces key concepts about:
- Electric Generation (sources of how electricity is made)
- Transmission (electricity & natural gas)
- Dangers of Electricity
- Energy Safety (electricity & natural gas)
- Things to know about Natural Gas
- How to recognize, react and report a gas leak
It is a great resource to assist teachers and parents in explaining these key concepts and also for students who want to explore on their own. Teachers can use the app to demonstrate an idea and then guide the students through a hands on portion of self-study exercises.
