Description
At present, only German language Open Naturguides packages are available; please contact us by email if you are interested in collaborating in producing an English version! Below we repeat the German text for those being erroneously presented the English version:Der NaturLotse bietet Ihnen einen mobilen Zugang zu den auf der Web-Plattform Offene-Naturfuehrer.de erstellten Naturführern und Bestimmungshilfen für Pflanzen, Tiere, Pilze und Flechten. Da diese unter OpenSource-Lizenzen erarbeitet werden, können Naturbeobachter, Nationalparkführer oder Lehrkräfte diese Bestimmungshilfen (für das Smartphone oder ausgedruckt) an Freunde oder Teilnehmer von Exkursionen kostenfrei weitergeben.
Erste Bestimmungshilfen stehen bereits fertig für die praktische Nutzung zur Verfügung. Beispiele sind: "Amphibien", "Reptilien", "Wirbellose Tiere im Bach" oder "Holzpflanzen". Wir freuen uns auf ihre Kritik und Verbesserungsvorschläge aufgrund praktischer Erfahrungen!
Andere Projekte, z.B. eine vollständige Exkursionsflora, bedürfen noch einiger Arbeit. Das Besondere an diesem Projekt ist, dass es kein fertiges kommerzielles Verlagsprodukt ist, sondern eine Plattform auf der Sie selbst Ihre Kenntnisse und Erfahrungen einbringen können, sei es in Form von Verbesserungsvorschlägen oder durch das Erstellen neuer Naturführer. Ähnlich wie im Fall von Open-Source Software (z.B. Linux) kann das Ergebnis immer wieder verbessert werden und es können möglichst viele interessierte Menschen erreicht werden.
Wenn Sie eine mobile Internetverbindung haben, können Sie die Bestimmungshilfen (= Schlüssel) ohne Hilfe der NaturLotse-App direkt über den Webbrowser nutzen. Wir empfehlen jedoch sie mit Hilfe der App zu Hause auf ihr Mobilgerät zu kopieren. Anschließend können Sie sie in der Natur offline nutzen.

Download NaturePilot (German only) APK file from ApkClean, then follow these steps:
Update Phone Settings
- Go to your phone Settings page
- Tap Security or Applications (varies with device)
- Check the Unknown Sources box
- Confirm with OK
Go to Downloads
- Open Downloads on your device by going to My Files or Files
- Tap the APK file you downloaded (org.naturepilot.on-v1.7-ApkClean.apk)
- Tap Install when prompted, the APK file you downloaded will be installed on your device.

Questions & Answers
Q: What is an APK File?
A: Just like Windows (PC) systems use an .exe file for installing software, Android does the same. An APK file is the file format used for installing software on the Android operating system.
Q: If I install an APK from this website, will I be able to update the app from the Play Store?
A: Yes, absolutely. The Play Store installs APKs it downloads from Google's servers, and sideloading from a site like ApkClean.net goes through a very similar process, except you're the one performing the downloading and initiating the installation (sideloading).
As soon as the Play Store finds a version of the app newer than the one you've sideloaded, it will commence an update.
