Die App zum WSO-Kongress „MindBody | BodyMind – Osteopathie an der Schnittstelle zwischen Körper & Geist“,der im April 2016 in Wien abgehalten wird. Inhaltliche Einführung: A.T. Still, der Begründer der Osteopathie,
sprach häufig von seinem Menschenbild des „triune man“, des Menschen mit „Body, Mind and Spirit“ und
darüber, wie wichtig es in der Osteopathie ist, alle diese Teile zu beachten. In der Behandlung des Körpers
wurden deutliche Fortschritte gemacht - unsere Techniken werden ständig verfeinert und weiterentwickelt und
das wissenschaftliche Verständnis des Körpers und der Osteopathie wächst kontinuierlich. Die Bereiche von
„Mind“ und „Spirit“ sind demgegenüber aber oft in den Hintergrund getreten. Die wissenschaftliche Forschung der
letzten Jahrzehnte bestätigt nun Stills frühe Theorien und macht immer deutlicher, wie eng und untrennbar Körper
und Geist als Einheit funktionieren. Ideen, wie das biopsychosoziale Modell, Psycho-Neuro-
Immunologie, Placebo- und Nocebo-Effekte oder Embodiment von psychischen Traumen, sind im Mainstream
der Schulmedizin angekommen, und es ist an der Zeit, ihnen auch in der Osteopathie wieder mehr Beachtung zu
schenken. Dieser Kongress bringt Expertinnen und Experten aus den Gebieten der Neurowissenschaften, der
Psychotherapie und der Osteopathie zusammen, um das Thema unter verschiedenen Gesichtspunkten zu
beleuchten und um dem Ideal einer „ganzheitlichen“ Behandlung noch einen Schritt näher zu kommen.

2016. Introduction: A.T. Still, the founder of osteopathy, often talked about his vision of man, the “Triune Man”,
composed of “Body, Mind and Spirit”, and how important it is in osteopathy to pay attention to all three elements.
When it comes to the treatment of the body considerable progress has been made - the techniques are
constantly being enhanced and become more and more sophisticated, and the scientific understanding of the
body and osteopathy is continuously improving. In contrast, the elements of “Mind” and “Spirit” have often had the
tendency to slip in the background. Scientific research of the past decades has been able to confirm Still’s early
theories and to show more and more clearly how body and mind, closely and inseparable linked, work as a unit.
Concepts like the bio-psycho-social model, psycho-neuro-immunology, placebo and nocebo effects, or the
embodiment of mental traumas have found their place in mainstream medicine. Now it is about time to put more
focus on these issues also in osteopathy. This congress aims at bringing together experts from the fields of
neurosciences, psychotherapy and osteopathy to shed more light on the various aspects of the topic and to help
to make another step towards the ideal of a truly “holistic” treatment.
