Appen «Fugler i nærmiljøet» er laget for studenter tilknyttet barnehagelærerutdanningen ved Universitetet i Stavanger, men kan også være nyttig for andre som ønsker å lære mer om fugler. Appen tar for seg et utvalg av de vanligste fuglene i norsk natur. Fuglenes utseende beskrives og vises med bilde og et eksempel på fuglens lyd er inkludert. Hensikten er å gjøre brukeren bedre i stand til å gjenkjenne noen av de vanligste fuglene vi har i Norge. Appen inneholder også to quizer for å teste og trene opp egen artskunnskap. Videre inneholder appen to plansjer. «De fleste kan fly» tar for seg karakteristiske tilpasninger i fuglers anatomi og fysiologi som gjør dem tilpasset til å kunne fly. «Hvor på fuglen» tar for seg navnsetting av de ulike delene av fuglen. Bakgrunnslitteratur er oppgitt under «Les mer».Innholdet må lastes ned etter installasjon av app.
