Description
Surat at-Takwir (Arabic: سورة التكوير, “The Overthrowing”, literally “The Turning Into a Sphere”) is the eighty-first sura of the Qur'an with 29 ayat. It tells about signs of the coming of the day of judgement. Some of these signs include the following: (a) When the sun is shrouded in darkness (turns into a sphere) (b) When the stars lose their light (c) When the mountains are made to vanish (d) When the seas boil over (e) when the she camel about to give birth is left untended.Hadith / Hadees:
Whoever wants to see the Qiyamah with his/her eyes should read the verses of at-Takwir, al-Infitar and al-Inshiqaq.”
Imam Ahmad recorded from Ibn Umar that the Messenger of Allah said: “Whoever wishes to look at the Day of Resurrection, as if he is seeing it with this eye, then let him recite: ‘When the sun Kuwwirat’(At-Takwir) and ‘When the heaven is cleft sunder (Al-Infitar) and ‘When the heaven is split asunder.(Al-Inshiqaq)’”
It was narrated that Umar ibn Horayth said: "I heard the Prophet (ﷺ) reciting: 'When the sun is wound round.' in fajr. (at-Takwir) "
Sahabah reported that Muhammad (ﷺ) used to recite surahs An-Naba (78) and al-Mursalat (77) in one rak'ah, and surahs Ad-Dukhan (44) and At-Takwir (81) in one rakah of salah (namaz).
1. The Messenger of Allah (s.a.w.s.) said: Whoever recites Surah Takwir, Allah would save him from humiliation on the Day of Judgment when his scroll of deeds would be made known (spread or opened).
2. The Messenger of Allah (s.a.w.s.) said: One who likes to see the Day of Judgment as if he is seeing it with his eyes, he should recite “Izash Shamse Kuwwerat” (Surah Takweer), and “Izas Samaae Infitarat” (Surah Infitar) and “Izas Samaae Inshaqaqat” (Surah Inshiqaq).
Surah at-Takwir (The Covering Up)
This ‘makki’ Surah has 29 ayaat. The Holy Prophet (S) said that the person who recites this Surah will be happy on the day when the book of deeds of people will be opened. Whoever wishes that Allah (S.w.T.) should show him His Mercy on the Day of Judgement should recite this Surah.
Recitation of this Surah is especially good for the eyes. It improves vision and removes any ailments of the eyes.
i) Whoso recites this surah, Allah would not humiliate him on the day of reckoning when his record of deeds would be made known, then he would look at the Holy Prophet who would provide him protection.
The Holy Prophet (S) said that the person who recites this Surah will be happy on the day when the book of deeds of people will be opened. Whoever wishes that Allah (S.w.T.) should show him His Mercy on the Day of Judgement should recite this Surah.
