A Rádio Por Um Mundo Melhor foi fundada pelo Bispo Dom Hermínio Malzone Hugo em 1960, 1º bispo da Diocese de Governador Valadares, para ser a emissora oficial da Diocese sendo o seu primeiro Administrador sócio, juntamente com Monsenhor Francisco Batista dos Santos e Padre David de Alcântara Miranda.Em 14 de setembro de 1978 a Fundação João XXIII ganhou uma nova emissora com a freqüência 97,7 MHZ – Rádio Mundo Melhor FM, seguindo os mesmos propósitos com segmentos diferenciados, voltados mais aos jovens.
A Rádio Por Um Mundo Melhor foi e continua como uma escola da Radiodifusão de Governador Valadares. Passou por ela a maioria dos profissionais que hoje dirigem e atuam nas emissoras de rádio da cidade.
Assim conquistamos e fidelizamos um público composto por jovens e adultos, masculino e feminino, formadores de opinião, de todas as idades, classes sociais e atividades variadas. Atinge o Leste Mineiro e os Vales do Aço, Mucuri e Jequitinhonha e ainda parte do norte do Espírito Santo.
