Kangen Band dibentuk di Lampung pada tahun 2005 oleh Dodhy, Andika, Tama, Lim, Nory, dan Barry. Album perdana mereka adalah Tentang Aku, Kau, Dan Dia (2007). Salah satu lagu dalam album ini, Tentang Bintang dan Selingkuh menjadi hit yang populer di masyarakat. Selain itu, Kangen Band juga berhasil masuk sebagai Grup Band Tervaforit pada SCTV Award 2007. Pada tahun yang sama, mereka membintangi sebuah sinetron berjudul Aku Memang Kampungan, yang bercerita tentang perjalanan karier mereka.[1]Pada tahun 2008, Kangen Band meluncurkan dua album sekaligus: Yang Sempurna—yang merupakan repackage dari album perdana—dan Bintang 14 Hari.[1] Bintang 14 Hari menyajikan warna musik yang berbeda dengan menampilkan unsur Melayu dan mengeksplorasi unsur Jawa. Di album ini, Kangen menggaet arranger Andi Bayau dengan backing vocal Eren.[2][3]
Di bulan Juli 2012, Andika mengundurkan diri dari Kangen Band, karena tak ingin membayar denda Rp1 Milyar kepada Warner Musik sehubungan dengan bersolo-kariernya Andika di luar label Warner Music.[4]
Setelah Andhika hengkang, akhirnya Kangen Band mencari vokalis baru untuk menggantikan posisi Andhika. Setelah melakukan audisi dengan sebanyak 5000 peserta, akhirnya Kangen Band mendapat vokalis baru bernama Reyhan.[5] Setelah cukup lama tak mengeluarkan karya baru,Kangen Band akhirnya kembali dengan lagu"Binti Ayahnya". Video klip lagu tersebut telah diunggah di akun YouTube GP Recordspada Selasa (9/10).
