Tahun 2001, Yovie merilis album dengan bendera Yovie & Nuno bertajuk Semua Bintang. Nama band Nuno diambil dari bahasa Latin, Numero Uno, yang artinya nomor satu. Band bentukannya ini adalah wujud idealisme Yovie yang tak bisa diolah maksimal di Kahitna.[10] Pada album ini, selain bersama The Nuno, Yovie juga berkolaborasi dengan Andi /rif, Fariz RM, Glenn Fredly, Audy, dan salah satu personel grup Warna. Album ini terkesan lebih 'garang' dibanding albumnya bersama Kahitna. Apalagi dengan dukungan personel The Nuno, Baron yang mantan gitaris Gigi dan Rere yang drummernya Grass Rock.[11]Tiga tahun kemudian, Yovie & Nuno berganti nama menjadi Yovie & The Nuno, serta merilis album baru bertajuk Kemenangan Cinta (2004). Di album kedua ini, personel The Nuno ada yang berganti. Kebanyakan berasal dari Surabaya. Personel The Nuno untuk album kedua yaitu Ersta, mantan bassis X-men (bass), Gail (vokal), Diat (gitar), Rere (drum), dan Dudi Oris (vokal).
Di pengujung 2007, Yovie mengeluarkan album lagi. Kali ini kembali dengan nama Yovie & Nuno, seiring mundurnya Gail, Ersta dan Rere. Yovie pun merekrut Dikta untuk mendampingi Dudi pada posisi vokal menggantikan Gail. Menandai kemunculan Yovie & Nuno, mereka meluncurkan album bertajuk The Special One (2007) yang terinspirasi dari penggalan lirik lagu "Janji Putih" ciptaan Yovie, yang dipopulerkan Bening.[12] Formasi ini menjadi formasi yang paling sukses mengangkat nama dan popularitas Yovie & Nuno di belantika musik Indonesia, terutama melalui hits albumnya, Menjaga Hati yang beroleh penghargaan platinum dari Sony BMG Music, serta penjualan fisik mencapai 75.000 keping CD dan 500.000 aktivasi nada sambung.
Melanjutkan sukses di album The Special One, Yovie & Nuno formasi Yovie-Diat-Dudi-Dikta kembali mengeluarkan album Winning Eleven (album) yang rilis pada Juli 2010. Pada Maret 2012, Yovie Widianto terlibat dalam penggarapan album jalur suara Negeri 5 Menara. Yovie & Nuno berkontribusi dalam album tersebut dengan dua buah lagu, Man Jadda Wajada dan Galau. Akan tetapi, pada tahun yang sama, Yovie & Nuno harus kembali kehilangan personelnya Dudi Oris yang memutuskan keluar setelah 11 tahun bersama Yovie & Nuno.
