Alimenta-se de frutas, folhas, larvas e insetos.
Reprodução
Atinge a maturidade sexual aos 12 meses. Faz ninho tipo tigela.

Vive nas capoeiras e nas matas em regiões montanhosas.
Foi observado nessas aves o ato de “formigar-se”,
que consiste em agarrar formigas vivas com o bico e introduzi-las entre as penas,
evidentemente para gozar o efeito cáustico do ácido fórmico.
