Características
Residente meridional pouco conhecido, de bico e pés fortes, cauda longa e rígida,
garganta branca ornamentada lateralmente de penas com o ápice negro,
longa e larga faixa esbranquiçada pós-ocular, vértice avermelhado.
Asa: 8,8 centímetros; Cauda: 9,2 centímetros. Tem 20 centímetros de comprimento.
Hábitos
Ocorre em vários ambientes florestais acima de 800 m de altitude.
Alguns autores consideram que aglomerados de bambu e matas ao longo de cursos d'água são o ambiente ideal,
mas isto ainda não foi estudado mais detalhadamente e pode ser só coincidência (Birdlife International 2015).
Embora seja considerada quase ameaçada,

Restrita ao sudeste da América do Sul, é endêmica da porção meridional da Mata Atlântica.
Sua distribuição abrange o nordeste da Argentina, sudeste do Paraguai e sul e sudeste do Brasil,
neste último desde o extremo sul de São Paulo até o noroeste do Rio Grande do Sul
