军棋的棋子每方各有25个，分别为军旗、司令、军长各一；师长、旅长、团长、营长、炸弹各二；连长、排长、工兵、地雷各三。
军棋棋盘
铁路线：绿线
公路线：白线
行营：圆形
兵站：方形
大本营：最后一行的"右二"和"左二"
铁路线：棋子的快行线，只要在直线上棋子走的步数不限（不能拐弯）；
公路线：慢行线，每次只能移动一步；
兵站：是棋子的摆放位置；
行营：棋子的保护区，在行营中的棋子可以免受其他任何棋子的攻击；
大本营：其中一个是军旗所在位置，另一个可以摆放其他任何棋子，进入大本营的棋子不能再移动。
工兵：行棋比较特殊，只要在铁路线上，在没有挡路的情况下，可以拐弯。
吃子规则
司令>军长>师长>旅长>团长>营长>连长>排长>工兵；
大棋吃小棋，相同棋子相遇，则同归于尽；工兵能排除地雷，其它棋子不能排雷；炸弹与任何棋子相遇时同归于尽；地雷：可以胜工兵外所有有生命的棋子，与炸弹同归于尽。
获胜方法
吃掉对方的军旗，则获得胜利。或者吃光对方所有能移动的棋子也获得胜利。
