Description

'The Eighth Continent' is an interactive novel in which you are the story's hero!

In a world devastated by a cataclysmic super-eruption, you must search for your lost family.  Who should you trust?  What dangers await you in the volcanic wasteland?

Scavenge, fight, hack, and trade your way through a ruined world.

Features:
- A branching storyline; make crucial choices and live with the consequences.
- Conditional choices, where your options may depend on the items in your inventory, your health or mental state, previously visited locations, your reputation with other characters, or even your wealth!
- A card-based fighting mini-game.
- A mini-game for hacking electronic locks.
- A mini-game where you scavenge for precious goods.
- Vendors to buy and sell.
- A decryption mini-game to decode secret records.
- An inventory of consumables and quest items for you to manage.
- Over 700 pages.
- Over 20 achievements.
- An automatic bookmark save system.

Suitable for adults and young adults alike, the book uses clean language throughout and contains mild fictional violence in the form of a card game.  Although a standalone story, 'The Eighth Continent' is the first book of a trilogy; books two and three are already written, and will be released as apps soon.

The app is designed for both phones and tablets, and works in both landscape and portrait orientations.

(This is an ad-supported version of the paid app 'The Eighth Continent'.)

Special thanks to Matt Rix for his excellent Futile 2D library.

Questions & Answers

Q: What is an APK File?

A: Just like Windows (PC) systems use an .exe file for installing software, Android does the same. An APK file is the file format used for installing software on the Android operating system.

Q: If I install an APK from this website, will I be able to update the app from the Play Store?

A: Yes, absolutely. The Play Store installs APKs it downloads from Google's servers, and sideloading from a site like ApkClean.net goes through a very similar process, except you're the one performing the downloading and initiating the installation (sideloading).
As soon as the Play Store finds a version of the app newer than the one you've sideloaded, it will commence an update.

Q: Why ApkClean.net can guarantee APK 100% safe?

A: Whenever someone wants to download an APK file from ApkClean.net, we'll check the corresponding APK file on Google Play and allow user download it directly (of course, we'll cache it on our server). If the APK file does not exist on Google Play, we'll search it in our cache.

Q: What are Android App permissions?

A: Apps require access to certain systems within your device. When you install an application, you are notified of all of the permissions required to run that application.

5 ★I enjoyed both Magium and the 8th continent. They are written from a completely different angle and the 8th continent comes off as the older brother. The 8th continent is better written and has a more compelling story. I would give the edge to Magium in the unpredictability of the choices you make and character development. Great read, strongly recommended, will be moving on to the second installment.
5 ★I've played several interactive reading games and this is BY FAR the best. Captivating story, beautifully written, I mean, you really can't compare this descriptive masterpiece to others. I can't get over how talented the writer is. You'd have to read the story to know what I mean. This isn't high-school writing, that's for sure. The other interactive stories I've played use plain, almost dull, language in their work, but this is colorful artwork! The little games and stuff throughout are also a nice perk
5 ★This game deserves awards, accolades, and it's free. The writing, dialogue, plot, and healthy share of aptly placed mini-games make it relaxing and yet very intense to play. This game is so far above and beyond so much of the slapped together trash out there in the phone/mobile device market...and most of those garbage games just feel like they are slapped together by people trying to take your cash. This game is the opposite...it feels wholesome, created by someone who just wants you to enjoy a good story.
4 ★This is a really nice game, so many choices. The overall is fantastic. The only problem I've had would be with the mini games. Sometimes, while searching, the controls mix up and will swipe an item instead of tapping or vice verse. Also, when fighting, what is written may not be what you get. One example: when fighting an earwig, the "throw brick" card says "keep well away; avoid all damage" but you instead take full damage (in my case 10 health). Otherwise, really wonderful.
1 ★this is the worse cyoa game i ever played. got to chapter 7. still see very little story and progress all you do is battle and you lose so much. this is a boring game about luck. very stressful unentertaining. if you want a good one, read magium on the app store. 10x better than this
1 ★Many points in the game, it railroads you when there is absolutely no reason why you SHOULDN'T be able to do something. Some parts there's even only one option. Why even have an 'option' if it's only 1 choice? Also, you should ALWAYS give a fight option. If I want to be a murderhobo that's MY choice, not the dev's choice. If you wanna force your story, write a book, instead. Bad game. Would say 0 stars but was free so 1 star.
5 ★Omg I'm so in love! This mixed so many of my favorite things it's insane!! Sci-fi, puzzles, choose-your-own-ending, beautiful graphics and animation and sounds, actual reading with great descriptions, and even though there were some gross parts, so family-friendly and family-centered! Thank you so much for this game!!
5 ★I really loved this game/book/adventure. My only complaint was that some of the ads seemed inappropriate for the target audience of the app. The app itself was lovely, interesting, and fun. I can't wait to begin The Eighth Continent 2 :)
4 ★When I first started to read this is I was like "Why don't they have guns? Why is it always fist fighting?" Then I realised it's in England and if you have a gun there you're either a police officer or a criminal.
5 ★Captivating story. I had downloaded once a very long time ago, but had to soon delete it because of storage issues. I bought a new phone recently with plenty of space and I immediately began hunting for this game, desperate for the ending. I look forward to future installments.
5 ★This is in dire need of some kind of publication. But I fear it would only diminish the RPG fork in the road play style. You, sir, have gifted me a masterpiece. I haven't put this down for the past day and a half. I find myself going to it at regular intervals at work when no one is around, just to glimpse the wonderfully gloomy imagery. The gritty, harsh reality is depicted in a light of comradery with the constant nagging of the possibility of being alone. Truly a great series.
5 ★I played such book-like games before, but this one was superbly written (until the ending, where there's too much of hollywood lines uttered by the characters, please don't spoil your writing with unnecessary melodrama). Until the end you can't really tell what's going to happen next. I could see it made into an awesome sci-fi movie. Well done! Off to part 2.
