Description

Please note that this app has been deprecated in favor of gStrings, which has recently been rewritten from scratch; with a multi-core optimized engine, improved fundamental frequency detection, smooth OpenGL graphics, a redesigned UX, and a simplistic/focused material UI.

(!!) NOTE: this application is free to download, but will only work for a limited amount of time before you will have to activate it through a small one-time in-app purchase fee (~3EUR). Besides giving you a chance to try the app before you buy it, this was also the only way (due to technical constraints of the Play Store) to be able to give away this app for free to all existing gStrings users with paid content.

The app measures sound pitch using your phone's microphone, letting you tune any musical instrument (violin, viola, violoncello, bass, guitar, ukulele, piano, even wind instruments to name a few that have been tested).

Features include:
1. orchestra tuning (shifting/redefining tone frequencies, e.g. A440 > A443),
2. different temperaments (pythagorean, bagpipe, etc.),
3. custom user-defined temperaments,
4. different note namings (English, Latin, Hindustani),
4. a nonlinear scale,
5. microphone sensitivity setup,
6. pitch pipe.

If you were looking for a guitar tuner, try gStrings instead!

Thank you note: most of the historic temperaments were included courtesy of NetCat AG.

Questions & Answers

Q: What is an APK File?

A: Just like Windows (PC) systems use an .exe file for installing software, Android does the same. An APK file is the file format used for installing software on the Android operating system.

Q: If I install an APK from this website, will I be able to update the app from the Play Store?

A: Yes, absolutely. The Play Store installs APKs it downloads from Google's servers, and sideloading from a site like ApkClean.net goes through a very similar process, except you're the one performing the downloading and initiating the installation (sideloading).
As soon as the Play Store finds a version of the app newer than the one you've sideloaded, it will commence an update.

Q: Why ApkClean.net can guarantee APK 100% safe?

A: Whenever someone wants to download an APK file from ApkClean.net, we'll check the corresponding APK file on Google Play and allow user download it directly (of course, we'll cache it on our server). If the APK file does not exist on Google Play, we'll search it in our cache.

Q: What are Android App permissions?

A: Apps require access to certain systems within your device. When you install an application, you are notified of all of the permissions required to run that application.

1 ★Don't list as free if a day later the app refuses to open without payment.
5 ★Thanks for making it easier for us with the sound feed back feature :)
4 ★Good app but some problems in this app
5 ★I love this company and I'm thrilled that they're getting into the app market!!!
3 ★Waves is better than gtabs
1 ★Waist
5 ★Works great with every instrument. Love the design... and no offence to the dev, but I really prefer this to his updated gStrings. For a good tuner that loads fast, is easy to use and does a good job: Waves is it. EDIT: I had to dig around in settings to grant it mic permission on my HTC 10 on first run. 2ND EDIT: Your website is a di#k move and really unprofessional. It's time to fix it up.
5 ★Android 6.0 has app permissions that do not allow certain apps to use certain features like microphone. **FIX** 1. Go to settings. 2. Go to apps. 3. Click the little settings icon at the top. 4. Click on app permissions. 5. Go to microphone. 6. Turn on waves. 7. Tune your guitar :p Thank you devs for a great program and sorry that marshmallow causes permission issues. Have a good one all!!
4 ★So after reading everybody else comments. Found out you just need to pay for one app, and the mic needs permission from setting of the phone to initiate. 5 star if those two things are made simpler amd not as clumsy. Cheers
5 ★I wasn't happy at first when it didn't work and I thought I would have to buy a new app.. But thankfully someone else posted to go into my app setting then to the waves app and give it permission to use my mic! This is a great app! Maybe one day I will also try the new gStrings.
5 ★Before I had said that you need to purchase both apps because the owner goes back and forth in between editing each one. This isn't true, you only need to purchase one, and both apps honor the agreement -- it even says so on the FAQ, I just don't read. This app (and gstrings) is awesome, and works exactly as intended.
2 ★This app is normally GREAT on my old Galaxy S5 but this weekend I upgraded to the Galaxy S7 Edge and the app no longer works. It shows the message, "Unable to init the microphone!" Hopefully this gets fixed soon. When it works, 5 stars.
