様々な難易度を用意しているので、アクションゲームが苦手な方も、ある程度得意な方も手軽にSAOバトルをお楽しみいただけます！
バトルで操作できるキャラクターは3名。
キャラクターごとに得意な戦法やスキルの効果が異なるので、敵の特性や弱点属性、自分の好みのプレイスタイルに応じてパーティを編成しましょう。
また、キャラクターの強さを底上げできる、アビリティカードの装備も重要です。
キャラクターの強みを更に伸ばすか、弱点を補うか、カードが持つ様々な効果を組み合わせて、戦略的な編成が可能です。

特定の組み合わせでパーティを編成した際に特殊な演出が発生するほか、アクセサリーの装備や、衣装のカラーバリエーション選択によるキャラクターのカスタマイズが可能です。

本作だけのオリジナルキャラクターである、ライラ（CV上坂すみれ）も登場。物語に深くかかわってきます。
