Si concentra su due coinquilini presso la Fashion Academy di Milano: Maggie (Emanuela Rei), una ragazza americana con una borsa di studio in Italia, e Bianca (Giorgia Boni), figlia di un imprenditore di moda italiano.La serie è stata originariamente sviluppata come pilota televisivo del 2011, interpretato dal duo musicale californiano Kalina e Kiana, intitolato "My American Friend". Il pilota è stato coprodotto da Rainbow SpA e Nickelodeon, che fanno entrambi parte di Viacom. Due attrici italiane, Emanuela Rei e Giorgia Boni, sono state rifuse come due protagonisti dopo che il pilota è stato dato il via libera per una serie completa.
