استاد «محمدرضا شجریان» متولد مهر 1319 در مشهد است. بعد از چند سال تدریس در مشهد، سال 1346 به تهران منتقل و با استاد «عبادی» آشنا می‌شود و در کنار آن به کلاس آواز استاد «مهرتاش» می‌رود. در سال 1350 با استاد «پایور» آشنا می‌شود و به مشق سنتور نزد ایشان می‌پردازد. آشنایی با استاد «دوامی» از دیگر توفیقات وی دراین سال‌ها بود. همکاری با محمدرضا لطفی و در ادامه همکاری با مشکاتیان منجر به آفرینش بخش مهم و درخشانی از آثار شجریان شداستاد «شجریان» در حال حاضر با گروه «شهناز» به سرپرستی «مجید درخشانی» به فعالیت می‌پردازد.آهنگ هایی که شنیدن آنها خالی از لطف نیست.
