Кейін күйші Сүгір Әлиевтен тәлім алады. Момбеков тартатын күйлердің дені Орталық Қазақстан, Оңтүстік Қазақстан өлкесіне кең тараған шертпе күйлер. Ол Сүгірден үйренген "Телқоңыр", "Боз інгеннің бүлкілі", "Бес жорға", "Шалқыма", "Жолаушының жолды коңыры" секілді күйлерін орындады. Оның "Қосбасар", "Мешін", "Салтанат", "Қат-қабат", "Мың жылқы", "Ел жаңа", "Асу", "Анама", "Қоштасу", "Қаратаудың шертпесі" т.б. күйлері грампластинкаға түсірілді. Момбеков туындылары фольклорлық-этнографиялық "Отырар сазы" оркестрінің репертуарында орындалды. 1919 жылы Қаратау баурайындағы Қозмолдақ деген ауылда туып-өскен. Киелі өнердің бастауы арғы аталарынан басталады.
