A Jovem Guarda se refere ao programa musical exibido na TV Record de São Paulo de 1965 a 1968, apresentado por Roberto Carlos, Erasmo Carlos e Wanderléia.O programa "Jovem Guarda" estreou em 22.08.1965, na TV Record, liderado por três cantores em ascensão naquele momento. Roberto Carlos já havia estourado em 1963 com uma versão de "Splish Splash", de Bobby Darin e o DJ Murray the K, na versão brasileira de Erasmo Carlos. Por sua parte, Wanderléia tinha ganhado vários concursos de cantores de rádio e havia lançado seu primeiro compacto em 1962.
As gravações aconteciam no Teatro Record, na rua da Consolação, em São Paulo e era transmitido ao vivo. No Rio,havia uma versão exibida durante a semana dirigida por Carlos Manga transmitida pela TV Rio. O resto do país tinha que aguardar assistia em videotape, pois não havia retransmissão via satélite.
Ao longo de uma hora, o trio cantava seus sucessos e recebia convidados. Rapidamente, o programa tornou-se líder de audiência e provocou a histeria nos fãs que lotavam as dependências do teatro.
A postura rebelde, o ritmo frenético e as letras inocentes, mas identificáveis pelo público adolescente garantiram o êxito do programa.
O nome do programa ajudou a batizar o movimento musical e estético que introduziu o rock no Brasil. Atualmente, vários de seus integrantes continuam ligados à atividade musical.
