ولد القارئ مشاري العفاسي يوم الأحد 11 رمضان 1396 هـ / الموافق 5 سبتمبر 1976م بدولة الكويت. ودرس في السعودية بالجامعة الإسلامية بالمدينة النبوية تحديدا بكلية القرآن الكريم والدراسات الإسلامية تخصص القراءات العشر والتفسير. ولقد تتلمذ الشيخ والمنشد على يدي كبار علماء ومقرئي المدينة النبوية في كلية القراءات. وصل في منحى دراساته إلى السنة الثالثة. أجيز القارئ في قراءة عاصم رواية حفص من طريق الشاطبية وسافر القارئ مشاري إلى مصر للحصول على إجازات من كبار مقرئي العالم الإسلامي.
