はるか昔に消えたはずの地下都市。先般発見されたその遺跡に眠るウォーロックは、長きにわたる晶石の侵蝕を受けていた。
その結果、不思議なことに知能を持ち、近くを通る旅人を襲撃するようになった。このウォーロックには未知の古代技術が使われている。
調査の結果、この技術を使えば、現代のウォーロックも大きく強化できることが判明した。
そのため、自らの技術水準を飛躍的に向上させ、戦力をさらに強大なものとするべく、
傭兵ギルドは、この自律して動くウォーロックの討伐依頼を多数出すようになった。
