Description

Flippy Bit And The Attack Of The Hexadecimals From Base 16

Hi

We at Q42 have teamed up with Russian psychologist Kateryna Afinogenova to create this experiment to test her recent study in which a group of 420 kids were shown to have a natural talent for doing bitwise operations and conversions to hexadecimals.

"Seven percent of the test group could bitshift" she said to Scientific World News in an exclusive interview, which caught our nerdy attention. Especially the following statement:

"While adults have trouble with binary numbers, from around the age of two, children can not only calculate on a binary scale, but even translate from binary to hexadecimal - and back."

We were able to contact her and collaborate remotely on this experimental game that allows kids to literally do that conversion. Afinogenova requested to omit a tutorial to further emphasize the adoption difficulty between adults and children.

We were amazed by the results. You can be amazed too! Play the game and find out!

Questions & Answers

Q: What is an APK File?

A: Just like Windows (PC) systems use an .exe file for installing software, Android does the same. An APK file is the file format used for installing software on the Android operating system.

Q: If I install an APK from this website, will I be able to update the app from the Play Store?

A: Yes, absolutely. The Play Store installs APKs it downloads from Google's servers, and sideloading from a site like ApkClean.net goes through a very similar process, except you're the one performing the downloading and initiating the installation (sideloading).
As soon as the Play Store finds a version of the app newer than the one you've sideloaded, it will commence an update.

Q: Why ApkClean.net can guarantee APK 100% safe?

A: Whenever someone wants to download an APK file from ApkClean.net, we'll check the corresponding APK file on Google Play and allow user download it directly (of course, we'll cache it on our server). If the APK file does not exist on Google Play, we'll search it in our cache.

Q: What are Android App permissions?

A: Apps require access to certain systems within your device. When you install an application, you are notified of all of the permissions required to run that application.

5 ★I cannot stop thinking about this game. I'm not a gamer really, I'm definitely no coder or programmer or computer person in any way. I love that there are no rules or settings available. You just figure it out.
5 ★Incredibly clever game that really makes you learn binary to hex conversions. I'd love to see an advanced mode where the numbers come down in base 10 and you have to convert to hex yourself.
3 ★Love this but the rockets take too long to combine. When the screen speeds up sometimes it takes the length of one alien to traverse the screen for the rockets to combine.
3 ★It would have got 4, maybe 5 if it was possible to get more than 25-26 points. Maybe keep the speed constant and add another 8 bit line with a 16 bit enemies
5 ★I love that game. Please, make the difficulty increase more slowly, and fix the sensitivity "bug", when you swipe a nibble, it only flips the last three bits, and I give it 5 stars.
4 ★It takes time, dedication and some luck but you can get more than 25 points.
5 ★Having a hexadecimal digit to four bits chart was necessary for me to start off, but now I'm able to do it all from memory [though B and D do give me some confusion.]
5 ★This game is a great way to learn some binary/hexdec skills. It's cute andfun, but the high scores should be in hexdec ;) I would also suggest addinga "practice" mode where there are no bugs and you can just see how to makedifferent numbers without the time constraint I am quite proud of mycurrent high score of #16 (22)
5 ★I think it gets unreasonably fast in the mid 20s. Even of you get it before the bomb lands you still lose.
4 ★Based on a good idea, but the implementation has some serious flaws. Still fun though, and a great way to practice hexadecimal and binary.
3 ★It is impossible to get a score outside of the mid twenties. It takes too long for the rockets to fire.
5 ★This game taught me hex to bin calculation in 1h. Computer sciences couldn't do it within 10 year
