Ungu adalah grup musik Indonesia yang beranggotakan Makki (bass), Enda (gitar), Oncy (gitar), dan Rowman (drum). Sampai tahun 2015 mereka telah menghasilkan 7 album studio, 5 album religi, dan sebuah album kompilasi.Perjalan karier Ungun ini dimulai pada tahun 1995 ketika mereka sedang berkumpul di sebuah warung kecil di pinggiran kawasan Tebet, Jakarta Timur. Kala itu Makki Parikesit (Makki-Bass), bersama teman-teman bandnya yaitu Eki (gitar), Gatot (keyboard), Michael (vokal), dan Muhammad Nur Rochman (Rowman-drum) mereka mencetuskan nama “Ungu” sebagai nama band mereka.
Tahun 2000, Ungu mulai mempersiapkan album pertama mereka, yang akhirnya dirilis 6 Juli 2002 bertajuk Laguku. Sebelumnya, Ungu ikut mengisi 2 lagu di album kompilasi Klik bersama Lakuna, Borneo, Piknik, dan Energy. Ke dua lagu tersebut adalah "Hasrat" dan "Bunga". Single pertama album ini, "Bayang Semu" menjadi original soundtrack sinetron ABG (RCTI). Meski terbilang sukses, album ini baru mendapat Platinum Award setelah hampir 2 tahun album ini dirilis.
Pada tahun 2012, Ungu meluncurkan sebuah album kompilasi terbaik yang diberi judul Timeless. Album ini hanya dijual di gerai KFC di seluruh Indonesia.[16] Album ini memuat sepuluh single pilihan dari enam album studio sebelumnya, ditambah empat lagu terbaru "Apa Sih Maumu", "Kau Anggap Apa", "Sayang" dan "Puing Kenangan". Album kompilasi Timeless yang juga dijual melalui gerai KFC, sudah terjual hingga 500 ribu keping selama dua bulan.[17] Ungu juga termasuk musisi yang sukses menjual albumnya di gerai KFC seperti Cinta Laura, Indah Dewi Pertiwi, Agnes Monica, SM*SH, T.R.I.A.D, Rossa, Slank, Last Child, Ello, Sammy Simorangkir dan Armada.
