Mishary Al Afasy is recognized for his beautiful voice and unique recitation of the Quran. Many reciters come to imitate his reading style.
He studied the Quran at the College of the Holy Quran at the Islamic University of Madinah (Kingdom Of Saudi Arabia). He memorized the entire Quran in two years 1992-1994 and later learned that specializing in the ten recitations of the Qur'an. Mishary Al Afasy is the Imam of the Grand Mosque (Kuwait), and every Ramadan he leads the Taraweh Prayer at this mosque. He very often leads Tarawih prayers in the UAE and other neighboring countries in the Gulf.
In 2007, he visited two mosques in the United States: the Islamic Center Irvine (ICOI) in California and the Detroit Islamic Center (ICD) in Michigan.
