Description

Try the free Family Link parental controls app from Google. Whether your children are younger or in their teens, the Family Link app lets you set digital ground rules remotely from your own device to help guide them as they learn, play, and explore online. For children under 13 (or the applicable age of consent in your country), Family Link also lets you create a Google Account for your child that's like your account, with access to most Google services.

With Family Link parental controls, you can:

Guide them to good content

• View their app activity - Not all screen time is the same. Help your child make healthy decisions about what they do on their Android device, with activity reports showing how much time they’re spending on their favorite apps. You can see daily, weekly, or monthly reports.
• Manage their apps - Handy notifications let you approve or block apps your child wants to download from the Google Play Store. You can also manage in-app purchases, and hide specific apps on their device, all remotely from your own device.
• Feed their curiosity - It can be hard to figure out what apps are right for your child, so Family Link shows you teacher-recommended apps on Android that you can add directly to their device.

Keep an eye on screen time

• Set limits - It’s up to you to decide the right amount of screen time for your child. Family Link lets you set time limits and a bedtime for their supervised devices, so you can help them find a good balance.
• Lock their device - Whether it’s time to go play outside, have dinner, or just spend time together, you can remotely lock a supervised device whenever it’s time to take a break.

See where they are

• It’s helpful to be able to find your child when they’re on the go. You can use Family Link to help locate them as long as they’re carrying their Android devices.

Important Information

• Family Link’s tools vary depending on your child’s device. See a list of compatible devices at families.google.com/familylink/setup
• While Family Link helps you manage your child's purchases and downloads from Google Play, they will not need approval to install app updates (including updates that expand permissions), apps you have previously approved, or apps that have been shared in Family Library. Parents should regularly review their child’s installed apps and app permissions in Family Link.
• You should carefully review the apps on your child’s supervised device and disable those you don’t want them to use. Note that you may not be able to disable some pre-installed apps.
• To see the location of your child or teen’s device, it must be powered on, recently active, and connected to the internet.
• Teacher-recommended apps are only available on Android devices in the US to parents of children of certain ages.
• While Family Link provides tools to manage your child’s online experience, it does not make the internet safe. Rather, it is intended to give parents choices about how their kids use the internet, and encourage conversations about internet use.

Questions & Answers

Q: What is an APK File?

A: Just like Windows (PC) systems use an .exe file for installing software, Android does the same. An APK file is the file format used for installing software on the Android operating system.

Q: If I install an APK from this website, will I be able to update the app from the Play Store?

A: Yes, absolutely. The Play Store installs APKs it downloads from Google's servers, and sideloading from a site like ApkClean.net goes through a very similar process, except you're the one performing the downloading and initiating the installation (sideloading).
As soon as the Play Store finds a version of the app newer than the one you've sideloaded, it will commence an update.

Q: Why ApkClean.net can guarantee APK 100% safe?

A: Whenever someone wants to download an APK file from ApkClean.net, we'll check the corresponding APK file on Google Play and allow user download it directly (of course, we'll cache it on our server). If the APK file does not exist on Google Play, we'll search it in our cache.

Q: What are Android App permissions?

A: Apps require access to certain systems within your device. When you install an application, you are notified of all of the permissions required to run that application.

5 ★This is a great way to monitor kids tech use and show them exactly how much time they are spending on each app. We have educational apps which they have to use for set periods each day as part of their home study. It is great that I don't have to stand over them to see if it has been done, I simply check the app. It would be great if the user could see their own use for the current day, not just the history. Parents and kids would both benefit from that additional feature.
1 ★This app has been a nightmare. Every time that my child wanted to make a purchase I had to get into the settings and unsupervise his account, because it stopped allowing me to change the settings in Google Play and only gave me error codes. When I uninstalled the app because it wasn't working properly, Google deleted his email account that he had for years. Google has to be able to do better than this!
4 ★This is a great app for keeping an eye on your kids, especially what they search up online, what apps they download and how long they spend on their phones everyday and their location. The one downfall is I put a bed time on my kids phones, but we figured out, that if they turn their phones on after bed time, they can tap on Emergency use only, which is fine for in an Emergency, but Emergency use only, allows access to all apps, instead of just the standard phone calls, texts & camera.
5 ★Great app! Easy to use. I don't think my kid has hacked into it yet. You can block some apps like YouTube and Facebook if you dont want your kid to see that stuff. You can set time limits on individual apps and make them always allowed. You can even set a bedtime! I must warn you that your kid has to have there own google account but those are pretty easy to create. There are lots of things you can do to protect or keep your child/children from seeing all of the stuff on internet.
4 ★It isn't as user friendly as it could be but it does the job. The timers, bedtime work. What I found best is to block all apps and then set certain apps to always allow such as raindar, messages, phone, calendar, etc. The biggest thing that I don't like is all the apps in the family library are "pre-approved" downloads so request is not required.
1 ★Very poor. I've set limits for use of all social media apps which do not work most of the time. Although on my phone it says my child should have 20 minutes on Instagram she cannot log on. Almost every day there is a new problem. Amateurish in the extreme. Back to Apple for us, as we never had these problems with them
1 ★This app sucks, whenever my son uses his tablet it will always ask a parent to sign in. I hope it will be remive from play store and never to be seen again or i will tell the whole world that never ever use google or chrome. I have lots of pen pals i tell you. If i didnt see it being removed fron play store in two months i will strictly report to the police that the company never follow the rules bt puttinv a green L in the Google logo. That means the company never follow the rules.🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬.
1 ★I entered the date of marriage in the birthday box to get rid of the annoyance popup. Now my account got converted to a child account and I cannot change the birthday or do anything about it. Customer service is unable to help with my situation and they are at best kind about it. Google doesn't provide a proper ID verification process to revert this. Creating a new account or deleting this account is not an option for me. And I need to use this account along side my other accounts. 😡😡😡
5 ★I love this app, I can control my kids devices bedtime, I can know where they are, I can see how long they have been using the apps, any apps need my approval and so many other features that makes me feel safe. Highly recommend this app. LOVE IT.
4 ★Overall good system, but have a huge problems with vendor phone dialers: child can't answer a phone call while phone is locked by the app! Update: Feedback is sent from app already. There are threads on support forum with the same problem, unanswered by Google. EDIT: The problem resolved itself with phone OS upgrade, so bumping score.
1 ★It was working fine the first day I set it up but then I lost access to my daughter's Google account on my phone. It won't load any of her emails, I can't look at her search history, and I can't use Google find my device to find her phone. Unbelievable. So basically the only thing it's good for is screen time limits and blocking apps. It also would be awesome to show numbers called and texted..Google please fix this.
1 ★When my daughter tries to retrain her voice, nothing happens (prompts stays on). It doesn't work, and the app doesn't provide any error. My daughter is frustrated and I'm as well. Also, it is very difficult to know how to use the app, and I had to resort to help online.
