Radio Métropole a été fondé le 8 Mars 1970 par Herby Widmaier avec l’aide de son épouse Micheline Widmaier, Roland Dupoux et Bob Lemoine.Depuis 2005, Radio Métropole est une entreprise privée et indépendante de radio diffusion constituée sous la forme d’une société anonyme ayant son siège social a delmas 52, Port-au-Prince Haiti dénommé WIBS S.A (Widmaier Independant Broadcasting System S.A)
La programmation de radio Métropole est composée de journaux d’information, de bulletins, d’émissions de variété, de musiques nationale et internationale, d’émissions à caractère politique, économique, sociale et culturelle.
Ses émissions sont retransmises 24/7 sur la fréquence 100.1 fm en stéréo dans la zone métropolitaine a Port-au-Prince et sur le site internet de radio Métropole, metropolehaiti.com.
Certains de ses programmes peuvent être aussi suivi en directe sur des stations affilies dans les plus grandes villes d’Haiti telles que Jacmel, Cayes et Cap Haïtien.
En Février 2009, la WIBS S.A a créé Télé Métropole qui couvre la zone métropolitaine sur la chaine 52. Cette chaine de télé occupe déjà une place importante dans le panorama médiatique haïtien.
Apres plus de 40 ans d’expérience, la passion de la radio diffusion demeure encore bien vivante chez les Widmaier et la brillante équipe qui l’entoure. Comme indique leur slogan, ‘’Métropole une force toujours en action vers de nouveaux horizons.’’
