HOW IT WORKS:
1. Pick a key to start playing the track.
2. Tap 'Chords' to see what chords are being played (rhythm)
3. Tap 'Scales' to see the scale charts for that key (lead)
PRACTICE TIPS:
Learn the chord progression for each track, and then jump over to practicing scales. Guess what? There are only 5 'shapes' of the pentatonic scale to memorize! Once you know them up and down, learn where they start for each key. Soon, you'll be able to solo over 99% of the music out there! Gain more versatility by playing in different modes (major/minor/blues major/blues minor) too.
WHAT IS THE PENTATONIC SCALE?
It simply means 5-note scale. It is widely used in virtually every style of music, and is one of the most important scales a guitarist can learn. There are 5 shapes, or finger patterns, to memorize. These never change; only the starting position changes for each key. Once you learn one key, the rest will come easy!
TIPS FOR THE SCALE CHARTS:
- Black dots are regular notes.
- Red dots are 'root notes'. These are notes of the key you are in.
- Blue dots are 'passing notes'. Including these notes puts you in a Blues mode.

2 ★I agree with others on this being the same simple progression over and over with no tempo adjustment. Having a minor and major progression choice is nice, but how about some variety, like a stormy monday variation etc.? In the digital age changing tempo yet maintaining pitch is not difficult. This changes pitch and maintains tempo when the opposite is desirable to. The full version at a buck a song is to high priced when there are many other apps out there for free. Improve this and get five stars.
2 ★I have just been billed $5.11 for the "pro" upgrade. I don't have it though. It passed the download phase but wouldn't install. I received an immediate refund so I tried a second time using a different internet connection; same problem but this time no refund. The ap is a great idea so I'd rather have it installed than a refund please.
3 ★Real recorded loops sound good bit the fun of jamming with them wears fast and it gets boring due to (very)basic functionality. The paid version promises to add styles but not what the app really needs and sorely misses: tempo settings, user-defined chord progressions and, ideally, recording. All these are technically straight-forward and a must for the Pro version.
5 ★I've only been playing for a short time, trying to teach my self. Lately I've had been hitting a wall and this app has helped me break through. It works great on my phone, I plug it in to the tape jack on my amp and it works great. Love this app.
3 ★Bought a new Samsung Note 10.1, same as old one which failed. Now cannot reinstall the upgraded paid for version or the additional styles I purchased. Worked well before, was very happy with it but seems to have issues when you upgrade or have paid for styles. Now I am out of pocket...no app no styles no money. :(
2 ★The progression is quite boring,no variety. Hard to harness creativity. Good for beginners though. Will look forward for some improvements then ill give a high five!
5 ★I've been doing improvisation for soloing and this app is brill for jamming to in my own speed and way. Highly recommend tge download if u r learning guitar or are just jamming :-D
4 ★Woulda given it 5 stars if the tempo can be adjusted, and customise the chord progression. Though I am rather crap at guitar anyways. Great little app.
