A história da Rádio cultura FM em Novo Progresso começa em 2003, com a fundação da Associação Amigos de Novo Progresso, entidade filantrópica com objetivo de prestar relevantes trabalhos sociais aos menos favorecidos e defesa dos seus direitos sociais.A AANP, formadas por pessoas ligadas a imprensa local, perceberam a criação de uma emissora outorgada, seria a melhor forma de manter um trabalho social interrupto no município.
Foram 5 anos de muita luta, gastos, decepções ate finalmente atingir a liberação do Ministério das Comunicações e ser inaugurada a Rádio Cultura FM 87,9, em 30 de abril de 2008.
Além disso, a Radio Cultura FM 87,9, é uma parceria da população, faz campanhas, briga pelos direito dos cidadãos. É parceira das entidades de classe e representativas do município, abrindo-lhes todo espaço para divulgarem ali todas as ações. É parceira das entidades religiosas, sendo aberta a todos credos e crenças sem distinção.
