Description

A FreeSoftware (GPL) remake of Andrew Braybrook's classic C64 game Paradroid.

The player takes control of the so-called 001 influence device and must clear a freighter of robots by either shooting them or seizing control over them. Seizing control is done in a small logic subgame, in which you have to connect more electrical connections within 10 seconds than your opponent.

Freedroid (Classic) was developed by Johannes Prix, Reinhard Prix and Bastian Salmela (originally for DOS, then Linux and Windows, now ported to Android). Additional themes were contributed by Lanzz and Andreas Wedemeyer.

NOTE: The PC game was originally written for Joystick, keyboard or mouse control. The Android version is using pelya's SDL port, which offers on-screen overlay 'joystick emulation'. The GPL sources for this Android SDL port are found here:

How to install Freedroid APK on Android phone or tablet?

3 ★Of course the game itself is a timeless classic, one of the very few games humans will enjoy no matter how advanced the gaming technology goes. But you do need physical buttons to play it, touch screen is not suitable for this jewel.

4 ★Hard to control. The robot not to bad but take over very hard. Need different type for take over. I love it though been waiting for this one for ages, thanks.

2 ★Big props for putting this game on here but the touch screen controls really don't work well enough. Unplayable on phone form factor. Uninstalled

2 ★I was so pleased to see this in the play store, paradroid was one of my favourite c64 games and graphically this is spot on, but the controls make it unplayable, especially when trying a druid take over. Fix the controls and 5 stars for sure.

1 ★2014: Battling droids and using lifts is impossible with these controls. The game is unplayable. Control sensitivity needs to be configurable or made digital. 2017 update: still crap.

3 ★Controls are almost impossible to use correctly when in menus or trying toshoot without taking over a droid. Seems to be missing energy recovery andenergy display. Linux version is easier to use, but this seems more stable.

3 ★Controls are seriously lacking. Makes game all but unplayable. Pity cause it is a good version of the classic game. Please fix control issues asap.

5 ★Works really good on my Samsung galaxy discover. Controls are just like I remember. Not so good on my Samsung tab 3. Controls are very skittish
